ARTE.SANA RETREATS

OAXACA, MEXICO

CREATIVE MINDFULNESS RETREAT

Set in the vibrant heart of Oaxaca, Mexico this immersive retreat invites you to reconnect through tradition, texture, and creative expression.

Rooted in the rhythms of everyday artistry, we’ll explore handmade craft, slow rituals, and the deep cultural richness that defines this region of southern Mexico.

From morning journaling and market walks to hands-on workshops in clay, textiles, and cacao, each day is a thoughtful mix of creativity, reflection, and shared meals.

Whether you're shaping earth with a local artisan, sipping chocolate under a courtyard tree, or gathering for a sunset dinner with new friends — this is more than a retreat. It's a return to what grounds you.

This is a space where making becomes meditation, where stories are exchanged over woven threads and hand-formed cups. A reminder that rest is necessary, presence is powerful, and creativity is a way home to yourself.

Welcome to Arte.Sana. Let’s create something meaningful — together.

MEET YOUR GUIDES

Kristen Leahy (aka Leahy) is co-creator of Aguamiel, a Oaxaca-based project focused on food as healing, recovering ancestral food practices, integrative health, and ritual as a sacred language.

Her path of self-healing and the love she has for baking and desserts led her to explore creating desserts that are pleasing to both body and spirit by experimenting with local and seasonal products and omitting refined sugar, wheat, and industrialized ingredients.

Ana Cris Medina Palmeros is a designer, dyer, weaver, and co-founder of @t.e.x.e.r.e in Oaxaca.

With a background in Industrial Design and a deep passion for textiles, Ana Cris has spent the last six years building ethical collaborations with local artisans, where slow processes, cultural exchange, and fair trade come first.

Her work lives at the intersection of craft and community. Through natural dyeing, weaving, and artist residencies, she creates space for dialogue between tradition and contemporary design.

Meagan Mahaffy is an artist, educator, tarot reader, and the founder of art gurl, a creative community at the intersection of art, wellness, imagination, and self-discovery. Her work emphasizes creativity, play, and visual reflection as tools for self-understanding and wellness.

After a decade of program development and interpretation work at the Smithsonian Institution, Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, Meagan founded art gurl, where she teaches members how to reconnect with their innate creativity as a tool for healing.
